TRANSITIONING TO SPRING AND BEYOND

I added three simple pieces to my closet that will go the distance in transitioning my wardrobe to spring and beyond. A sweater vest, striped shirt and cropped leather jacket are all basics, but feel fresh in these interpretations. They easily layer now with heavier pieces and boots but are equally functional as the weather warms to wear with lightweight items and sandals.

An oatmeal colored vest from AMI PARIS is a favorite I know will be in heavy rotation. I love vests for their versatility to wear with or without a shirt underneath. It’s a perfect piece to layer under a jacket for warmth minus the bulk and pairs nicely with trousers, jeans or joggers. Also from AMI PARIS, I picked up a brown and white striped shirt. The bold stripe feels a little more unexpected than many of the classic shirts I already own. It looks great with black jeans for a sharp contrast but come summer I’m picturing it tucked into white jeans with sandals and a great belt. Super easy but chic.

A cropped leather jacket from REDValentino immediately caught my eye as a fantastic topper. Three quarter sleeves, perfect for warmer weather, look original and were an instant selling point for me. With details similar to a tailored piece, the double breasted silhouette feels familiar but fresh in leather. Brass anchor buttons add an understated nautical influence. I like it with high waist trousers, white jeans or thrown on over a dress. The sleeve length invites loads of styling options including layered over a thin knit with long sleeves extending to the wrist.

Mixing these pieces with other items in my wardrobe is a good starting point to welcome the new season. Simple but significant additions are often all that’s needed to give classic looks a modern vibe.
