And with January comes sweater weather. Perhaps the only month in the year when I can truly count on my cozy sweaters getting daily wear. I recently went through a closet edit and clean up and gave every sweater a thorough look over. I donated the ones that no longer fit well and the colors that were no longer flattering. I shaved pills off cashmere and then gave them a fresh wash.
When all was done, sweaters that felt like new were stacked by color. I could see some voids and some heavy repetition. Shades of ivory, cream, ecru, and winter white (I tell myself they are all significantly different) dominated. Knowing I already have a variety, I have to stop myself from the temptation of buying another with a new texture or silhouette.
I don’t spend a fortune on sweaters. Jackets, bags, shoes, yes, but sweaters haven’t tipped in that direction. I feel like I can find the look, quality and feel that I’m after in more price friendly brands. In my stack of cashmere sweaters, I have several from Nordstrom under their Nordstrom Signature label. They’re good. Hefty cashmere in styles that are not too oversized and not too skimpy. Just wearable classics. Perhaps that’s why I have more than a few and continue to purchase cashmere sweaters from Nordstrom.
Three I’ve been wearing lately include the mix stitch cable above, a half-zip wide collar and a ribbed funnel neck. No surprise, they’re all in shades of white.
Thank you Nordstrom for supporting A Note on Style and sponsoring this post.

Hi Karima. Greetings from Houston, Texas! These are all great looks. I noticed your ‘winter white’ jeans. My friends and I were discussing these. Is there a difference between winter white and regular white jeans? Maybe winter white is more of a warm white? Would love your thoughts and expertise! Thank you.
Karima
Hi Suzanne. Winter white is exactly like you said…a warmer shade of white. Ecru, ivory, and cream all fall under this category and offer a less stark option of bright white. That being said, I wear both hues year round.

Thank you. And let the hunt begin…..

Hi Karima, I love your blog so much. I did a Prolon fast recently thanks to you, and have purchased several great finds through your website.
I was looking through your packing posts and I couldn’t find what I need, which is what to pack at a beach resort when you’re traveling in winter. If you could point me in that direction I’d be grateful!
Karima
Thank you. I’m actually doing ProLon this week! I have something I was working on for resort packing and will post it soon.

Love, love, love cozy sweaters!!!
Thick, cabled or textured with a turtleneck of some sort are my favorite – navy, black, camels, beige / browns, grays with a few intarsia thrown in.
I have a question regarding your photo & I am hoping it is not too personal:
What color / brand is nail polish on your fingers & toes?
I love them both.
Thank you for your blog; it is a favorite of mine.

Thank you! I wear Dior polish on my nails…the same color all the time. I wrote about it awhile back in a post you can read here. On my toes is Dior also in 970 Nuit.

Online orders have been placed….
Have a great day!
