I think the best way to see a city is by walking so I always pack comfortable shoes that go the distance. For my recent trip to Paris, I alternated between Hogan sneakers and Birkenstocks (I brought a pair in black and white) while daily covering 25,000 steps on average. Both styles worked with all of my day looks which consisted of jeans or dresses. For dinner, I switched to a pair of black Gucci loafers (white would have been good, if not better) to pair with trousers. I brought one pair of block heeled Chanel sandals that I didn’t wear once in the city. They made their appearance on the second part of the trip in St. Tropez.

Good thoughts. So easy to over pack shoes. Better to whittle it down to comfort.
