GETTING A SUMMER GLOW

GETTING A SUMMER GLOW

Warm summer days mean baring a bit more skin, be it from sleeveless tops, shorter hems, or beachwear. I have an arsenal of products I use to prep for the extra exposure. From self tanning products and bronzers to a strong sunscreen, I’ve got favorites. It all starts with readying skin for the application of various products.

Dry brushing and exfoliating are routine for me, but I’ve recently added something new to give my skin a boost. After reading rave reviews on U BEAUTY’s The Sculpt Arm Compound, I gave it a try. After using it religiously for a month, I see a slight difference in crepey skin – enough to continue using it.

I’ve talked before about the Self Tan Drops from Tan-Luxe and brought both The Face and The Body drops with me on a recent trip. I love the ability to control how deep I want the tan to appear plus adding the drops to any moisturizer is convenient. Once the tan appears, I’ll even out any mistakes with Vita Liberata Blody Blur. I’ve also used the Body Blur on its own to give my legs and feet a boost of color when wearing dresses. It creates an even, beautiful brown.

Westman Atelier’s Face Trace Stick has become a new favorite. At a recent Westman Atelier Masterclass, I learned the correct way to apply it, which is less as a contour product and more like a bronzer. Imagine where the sun would hit your face, across your nose and straight across the cheekbones and you’ll create the appearance of a sun kissed tan.

But the most important product of course is sunscreen. I LOVE SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen with SPF 40 PA+++. It disappears into my skin and is non-drying. I didn’t burn even slightly after hours on a boat, swimming and basically full sun exposure. The PA+++ protects against UVA while SPF protects from UVB. Having both in a sunscreen is essential for full sun protection. (PA++++ is the highest available.)

I stocked up on all of these skincare products at Nordstrom. With a massive beauty department, I was able to shop at one store for everything I needed for my trip and will continue using all summer long.

Hello! I swear, at some point, there was a link to the cute white coverup/dress you wore on this trip, but cannot find it now!

My weekend plans involve a lot of relaxing. I’m My weekend plans involve a lot of relaxing. I’m still playing catch up from my trip so the idea of poking around the house is very appealing. I want to tidy things up for the season now that we’re already in July. Fresh table linens, raffia accents, and new candles will be brought into rotation.
.
I’m sure you’ve seen the images this week of Nancy Meyers’s @markdsikes_interiors designed home as published in Architectural Digest. I can’t wait to curl up on a lounge chair and read the full story. Every photo I’ve seen so far is simply stunning. Such talent.
.
I’ve obsessed about this Tory Burch printed tablecloth (scroll forward) since I saw it in the New York store last September. It’s time to bring it home. It’s beautiful and will pair nicely with pinks, blues and greens now or warmer tones in the fall. A raffia placemat will add texture and interest peaking out from under a charger or plate. For a complete splurge, I’d select hand painted plates from the Picardie collection created by Zoe de Givenchy for @zdgofficial So lovely.
.
Meanwhile, part of my lounging around means wearing relaxed clothes. My favorite pull on shorts from @cosstores have been getting lots of play. Same with a poplin shirt I’ll tie at the waist or layer over a tank.
.
Two other favorite pieces I’ve been wearing a lot lately are a pair of @fendi silver slides and a @sophiebuhai black knotted pearl necklace. I’ll layer it with other pearls, chains, diamonds or enjoy it simply on its own. Both pieces involve minimal effort in producing a splash of style.
.
The @frenchgirlorganics Rose Lip Polish has been a staple in my beauty cabinet for a long time. My latest discovery is to use it on my cuticles. Seriously the best thing ever. I’m stocking up! This is a must try and savior for anyone with dry cuticles.
.
Enjoy the long weekend and have a happy Fourth!
My wardrobe is fairly consistent with classic piec My wardrobe is fairly consistent with classic pieces so I’ll add fresh, seasonal accessories to bring a little flair to my looks. In collaboration with #Mytheresa I handpicked items that would boost my summer outfits while still staying true to my style. Think raffia bags, bucket hats and flat sandals – summer staples with a twist.
Details in today’s story on A Note on Style.
