When I think about what to pack for a trip, I start by compartmentalizing themes. I have a day and night theme and within those worlds a core group of pieces to anchor the looks. For example, I’ve selected the above items (variations I have in my own closet) as key pieces I know are comfortable, stylish, warm and versatile. They’ll lay the groundwork for most day looks.
Sneakers could be swapped for boots, a coat for a trench, sweater for a shirt and a number of scarves will fill in as needed. The COS turtleneck is a new purchase I also bought in black, and striped. It will provide numerous layering opportunities if it gets chilly. The J.Crew jeans are a new purchase too. I sized up for a very relaxed look.
I always minimize my jewelry when traveling, ideally selecting pieces that go from day to night. These earrings are perfect for that.
