WEARING LATELY: OLD AND NEW

WEARING LATELY: OLD AND NEW

I posted this image on Instagram over the weekend and received requests for direct links…what color is the bag, what style are the jeans, who makes the pearl necklace, etc. Instagram doesn’t make it easy to directly link, unless it’s a story, which disappears after 24 hours, so I’m following up here.

My outfit is a mix of old and new. The jeans are new from COS and are incredibly comfortable. Size down for somewhat of a fit or for the look on the COS model stay true to size. I love mine and am wearing a size 4 (not my normal pant size…I’m more of a 6 or 8 depending on style and brand).

They look best with a fitted top but I just tossed on a tee and one of my favorite Brochu Walker cashmere sweaters – the Jolie Fringe Vee. It still works because the sweater is somewhat cropped. It’s hard to see the detail of the fringe seam running down the sleeves in the photo but in person it’s visible and adds a unique detail to an otherwise black basic sweater. Details always make the difference. I’ve paired the same sweater with a Brochu Walker Vegan Leather pant in previous posts.

The most comfortable shoe in my closet right now are the Ava Mary Janes from The Row. They’re good right out of the box. I appreciate the soft leather but acknowledge it makes them more precious. The pebbled ground was not kind to the sides of the shoe. I’m linking to a few other similar options below that might be a better option for running around since I like the look of a Mary Jane right now. The long almond shaped toe box and strap closer to the ankle make the Ava uniquely flattering which is not always the case with Mary Janes. Le Monde Beryl has a great style available here or almost $100 less here and Sam Edelman’s consistently sold out Michaela Mary Jane just got a restock here. They won’t last long.

I eyed the Bottega Veneta Andiamo from afar and wasn’t completely sold on it until I played with it in the BV store. It’s currently my favorite bag. I’m making an effort to not purchase another black bag and this was the perfect opportunity to try something fresh. This color is called Acorn and I love that it’s a little funky and hard to define. A little green, a little gold/tan, just the perfect odd color that will work through all seasons. If I didn’t get Acorn, I would have bought Barolo or Inkwell. There are several sizes in the Andiamo. The small works best for me as a cross-body, shoulder or top handle bag. The versatility was a big selling point for me.

Every time I wear my Sophie Buhai pearl necklace I get questions. I’ve had it for years and wear it all the time…especially when I travel. It’s easy to layer with other necklaces but also looks fantastic on its own. The knotted thread is black – a detail that gives the pearls a casual edge. Mine is the smaller version here, and there are two other sizes here and here.
