I’ve been a long time fan of COS, buying a piece here and there over the years, but lately it has become my go to (this not a sponsored post). The selection of pants and skirts right now, both mainstream and extreme silhouettes, are hard to beat. They’re on point with color, fabrication and price. It doesn’t make sense to waste time trying to find anything better. The sets are another winner. They can be straight forward classics (I have several basics in linen) or a little edgy – like the ecru skirt and open back top above. Their Clean Cut T-shirt has been a staple in my closet for years. I replenish the white ones annually as they inevitably yellow from sunscreen. Shoes are an absolute hit or miss. More of a miss lately for me, only because of sizing. I’ve yet to find a size that works. I’ve followed the guidelines to order the correct size, they arrive and are way off. I haven’t given up though. I’ll keep trying when I see a winner. And maybe I’ll order two or three sizes.
Today’s moodboard is a mix of things. It’s to visually focus on separates and see how they can work most efficiently. Individually, they may not be exciting, but these are the types of pieces I reach for to wear, again and again.
From left, I love the straight, no fuss, wide leg shape of the cropped ecru denim pants. Easy to wear, easy to style, a grab and go type item. They’re a bit more special in ecru versus a more predictable white. I’d wear as shown with a brown jersey shirt, flat sandals and a bold jewelry. So basic, but good. I like a cropped pant in general for summer, so I’d pick up a pair in denim too. I’ll wear them with my Dries shrunken jacket, and slim, fitted tops.

Moving on to skirts, I’ll go from straight and classic to full (really full!) and swingy. Check these out, they’re actually culottes. Who would have thought I’d be buying culottes in my 60’s, but here we are. Since I LOVE a tonal story, I just ordered the cardigan in brown (sized down so it fits slim to wear with full bottoms). It’s linen, which is my favorite weight for summer knits. If it’s as good as I hope, I’ll likely buy the ivory and possibly pink. I have thoughts on the best way to wear pink and a cardigan may be a no go. It may be aging. Go back to this post to see my preferences on wearing pinks with neutrals.
I LOVE this ribbed ivory polo top. Apparently, a lot of people do too as it’s almost sold out. This is where COS does such a good job. Taking a simple style and adding the type of subtle details expected from a luxury brand. Spread collar with nicely spaced buttons (or close and wear as a turtleneck), variegated ribbing, and a modern sleeve allow it to stand out.

I don’t need another black jacket, but I could convince myself otherwise with a good find. Well, COS has a good one, so it’s a contender. I’m imagining how perfectly it would function for travel – transitioning beautifully between day and night. The slight sheen adds polish to an otherwise straight forward utility style. COS jackets are usually generous. Size down.
On the subject of polish and style, the Linda Farrow x COS collaboration has a number of fabulous offerings. I’m into a lens right now with medium transparency. Something less opaque. The smoky brown lens featured on the angular Facet frame is tempting. The all black matte finish on the cat eye is great too. Quiet and understated.

Like I said, I’m giving the shoes another try with two completely different styles. The ivory flat with a square toe is the perfect shoe to wear with full pants that skim the floor…a style I wear often. The desert suede closed up ballerina feels very The Row and gives off a cool vibe. Sort of unflattering, so cool.
