POST TRAVEL PACKING RECAP

POST TRAVEL PACKING RECAP

Unpacking after a long trip is my least favorite part of travel, but it forces me to see my wardrobe from a renewed perspective. It’s immediately clear which pieces worked overtime and which ones were barely touched. I identify what I wish I had packed more of and make note for future packing lists. Relaxed sets were the winners from my recent trip. They’re the heavy hitters adding mileage in so many ways to my travel wardrobe. When paired tonally, I feel pulled together no matter where the day takes me. I’ll use one or two sets to anchor the color palette then add a variety of separates that work harmoniously with this story. This strategy takes the pieces in my suitcase from a collection of individual items to a tight capsule where everything naturally coordinates.

The specifics – a linen button down with matching wide leg trousers for city touring that work just as well with shorts for a casual stroll. A vest and skirt combo worn together or paired with other basics – Posse has a number of good options. Add a lightweight sweater in a complimentary tone when the temperature drops or see what a jacket brings to the equation. A relaxed blazer reads nonchalant ease or a bomber kicks in a sporty vibe.

Footwear further defines the overall look – flip flops, sneakers, or walking sandals for casual days, and ballerinas, Mary Janes or a polished sandal for something more elevated. Jewelry and accessories set the final tone and add personality.

When I plan carefully and have a packing strategy where everything has a purpose, I’m rewarded with effortless dressing at my destination.

Toteme skirt (shorter option here) and top in white, Posse natural linen vest and skirt, Leset tan (also in sand) top and pants, Toteme black or white top and skirt

Posse linen separates – pants, vest, skirt, top (more colors)

Love these Toteme pieces. I have the top, pants and shorts in black and wear them often – at home or away. They simplify getting dressed and work beautifully in so many situations. The rust sets are fantastic too. Toteme embroidered stitch blouse, pants, shorts in rust; also in black, green and ivory

A black linen set I packed for Italy last year. Wore the skirts with a white poplin, a t-shirt and a knit top. Paired the tank with high waist linen pants. I bought a similar set recently in white. Similar vibe here. Pair with Anne Sisteron bead and koi necklace, comfortable flats and packable hat.

Relaxed pieces to mix, match, layer, or wear solo. From left: blazer and short (also here), tan tee and pant, navy polo and trouser, white shirt and pant, top and pants.

A plisse pleat set from Forte Forte that’s ideal for packing. Available in peach here – top & skirt. Wear with flat sandals (these are incredibly comfortable), pretty mesh ballerinas, pink opal necklace and a classic bag (mine is 10+ years old).
