Fall Denim: The Zara Vintage Straight Jean

Fall Denim: The Zara Vintage Straight Jean

As promised, I’m reporting back on the denim round-up I did a couple of weeks ago. There’s been a lot of exchanging and purchasing of new styles since then, but I’ve happily settled on a few keepers.

First up, the Zara Vintage Straight in Samurai Blue. It has a lot going for it. The denim is 100% cotton with good structure…something that’s important when you have a cuffed hem of this size. Personally, I like the exaggerated style, but if that’s not your thing, then it’s very customizable. Just cut them to the desired length and make the cuff a size you’re comfortable with. Before you do that though, pay attention to the other option in styling these jeans, which is uncuffed and skimming the floor. It’s another great look, especially with a little heel.

The Zara Vintage Straight is super versatile and at $70 the price is right.

I should have ordered when you first posted on them – all sold out, but looks like they’ll be restocked? How did the others do – I tried most but wasn’t happy with any of the fits. I had high hopes for Bliss and Mischief but not good on me.

I think Zara will be restocking them because the status of sizes keeps changing. I’m following up on the rest of the picks this week, but I ended up returning the Bliss and Mischief because there was too much whiskering… not a lot, but not what I wanted. The fit was good for me though. Very similar to Brock, which is what I kept.

How did the Brock sizing run? Did you size up to get a loose fit?

I did size up…they run smaller than these and the Bliss & Mischief.

Gee. Those Zara jeans look great on you! They didn’t work for me…they were too overwhelming in the leg. Where did you find those cute shoes?

Thanks Susan. They are pretty loose in the leg, actually everywhere. In hindsight, I probably should have gone down a size since they stretch a bit. The Chanel t-strap is from last season and I don’t see it online anymore to identify the style.

Glad you kept them – they look great on you. I am currently wearing them with a pair of Clergerie Flatform sandals and then later on will pair them with a pair of stretch nappa leather ankle boots. Ditto to your remarks on sizing down – should have done the same! I will be ordering another pair (smaller!) as they have proved such good value and are perfect for running around during the unpredictable weather in London.

I’d wear them exactly like that too. I had them on the other day with a pair of Barneys black flatforms and the extra height makes them look even better. They work with so many things.

They look great on you Karima! Does anyone know if the 26(2) is the smallest size they are offered in?

    • Karima

      September 8, 2017

i think that is the smallest size.

You look great in this outfit! Could you please share details about the blouse. Thanks!!

Thank you. The shirt is Zara also, but unfotunately it’s no longer available online. Maybe the stores would still have it. I just bought it a couple of weeks ago…
