I’m trying to stay in a summer mode, but have fall travel on my mind. I’m mentally checking off a few items I’d like to have with me on my next trip in September. The foundation of my travel attire is a uniform I’ve stuck with for years. Although the pieces remain the same – slim pants, comfortable walking shoes, lightweight jackets, a crossbody bag – I like to switch up the styles. The pieces above stay true to the uniform but would offer a subtle update.
The Prada padded nylon bag is a multi-tasking, dress up or down workhorse that would also fit nicely into my carry-on tote. I’ll wear slim black pants or leggings with Birkenstocks, low boots, loafers or a chunky heel making them an ideal option for day to night dressing. Having an assortment of lightweight layering options makes getting dressed a breeze. For years, I’ve traveled with a navy Moncler jacket similar to the above, so army green would be a refreshing change. I never like to be without sunglasses, so they are switched up often. The tinted green lens on this pair from Celine is quietly chic.

Thank you for the fall weather post, as I’m beginning to consider my wardrobe for late Oct in northern Italy. Just bought the Prada messenger bag.

I bought the Prada messenger bag from one of your previous travel posts and it’s been my go to bag for travel and looking chic walking around the city. I always love your sense of style! Looking at adding the Birkenstock’s next and the Celine sunglasses (love those).

Love all of your input and I do travel a lot, but leggings? I am sure they fit the bill at the gym but am discourage to see them where I think it is not appropriate and like to see a wee bit more care in how one looks when traveling, especially abroad. I am just a fussy old lady here. Just sayin” but do enjoy your input and do pay attention to your great ideas & class.

Hi Sharon. The leggings I’m referring to and have linked throughout the post are a far cry from the type you would wear to the gym. They are constructed of substantial fabric that not only looks street appropriate but is immensely comfortable too. As a core staple in lines whose style I feel very aligned with, such as The Row, Toteme, and Joseph, to name a few, I am confident that no one is mistaking my “leggings” for gym attire. They are designed to provide a streamlined, minimalist angle when worn with a jacket or knit and any variety of shoe. If you click through some of the links supplied to see the numerous ways they are styled, you’ll have a better idea of what I mean.

Love all the options, especially the green Moncler (that’s going on my list, as well as the safari jacket by Ralph Lauren Collection). And I agree with your comment regarding leggings. I’ve got a couple from The Row, Vince and Veronica Beard and every single one is comfortable and stylish and look nothing like my lululemon workout leggings. My nylon Prada is my go to travel bag as well.

Another vote for both non-workout-wear leggings and a Prada nylon crossbody as travel staples. I bought a slightly larger Prada bag in navy to distinguish it from all the others I see in airports! I’d also add the Loro Piana traveler jacket as a lifetime investment.
