OCTOBER MOOD

OCTOBER MOOD

Fall doesn’t really kick in for me until October. It takes the month of September to ween off summer and the lingering warm days. Then the mood shifts quickly and it feels like a new season.

I’ve been enjoying looking at new arrivals in the stores and saving things that inspire me to tweak my outfits for a refreshing change. Fashion Week has provided inspiration too. Even though the collections are for Spring 2024, it’s interesting to see what’s ahead. The Row’s Look 56 above set my mind on a path to replicate this easy to wear outfit and had me reviewing the black denim in my closet. I’m covered with a pair from MOTHER, but if you’re not, I like the options from The Row, Nili Lotan, and AGOLDE.

All black paired with camel in the form of a knit, jacket or really any single item is a no brainer and instantly chic. One of my favorite camel pieces is a sweater from last year’s Vince Monogram collection. It’s available in limited sizes and on sale here. I’ll also interpret this look with an old Chloe blazer. Blaze Milano and Another Tomorrow are well made options too.

Belts, although functional, continue to play an important part in styling. The details and logo free hardware make The Row’s Sydney a quiet standout. And dipping into the deep bordeaux trend, which only gets stronger and brighter for spring, is the gorgeous Elio bag. Leaning more on the brown side, it’s a safer bet for anyone with aversion to red. Not me, but I know you’re out there.

I’ve made a few purchases for the season with the Monsieur loafer getting my top vote. They’re flattering on, comfortable and pretty enough to wear with a skirt or dress.

In the world of decor, I’m drawn to this painted mirror panel – the colors, details and general wow factor. I wish I had more wall space. And the small wireless lamp trend just keeps getting better. Initial designs were good and practical, but I love the direction they’re headed taking on traditional design. The Mini Grisewood comes in ivory, green and black.

Happy October!
