In the post reviewing my moodboards from 2021, I noticed how each look was unintentionally anchored with at least one black item. So it makes sense when I’m looking to add a new silhouette that I consider black first. It’s a continuation of creating a wardrobe built with modern pieces that support the classics. The three items above are fulfilling this need for me now.
I’ve been talking about cropped jackets for a bit now and decided on one in leather. The bomber silhouette is very current and is a nice break from a traditional biker style. I prefer oversized, but still want it to hit in the region of the waistline, not my hips. Nili Lotan’s is close to perfect. I wish the shearling collar was removable, but the rest of the details are so nice, I’ll look past that.
In contrast to lug sole boots, a sleek shaped, mid-heel is getting a fair amount of wear time. They work especially well with a full leg trouser or jean. This pair from Toteme earns bonus points for a trim fitting shaft which also looks great with skirts and cropped hemlines. Plus the elongated toe feels very modern.
And about those flares…they’re an absolute must. Flattering, comfortable, and on point for seasons to come. Saint Laurent Resort 2022 featured several looks using this cut with tucked in blouses and sharp blazers. All are quite chic.
